Sacred Sites in Valais
Sacred Sites in Valais
The film is a documentary by Suzana Mistro that explores numerous sites in the canton, from prehistory to the present day. It examines the appeal of these sites, such as the cup-marked stones at the foot of the Matterhorn, the Abbey of Saint-Maurice, the Basilica of Valère in Sion and the Great Saint Bernard Pass, combining archaeological, historical and cultural perspectives. The director explores how these places have influenced and been influenced by human movements through time, and offers an interdisciplinary interpretation of sacred sites.
The film will be followed by a lecture by Alexandre Levine: ‘At the clash of empires, on the border of states, who were our ancestors?’
Our three illustrated historical novels reveal the turbulent history of the Middle Ages in Valais. This work is based on local sources and archives." Alexandre will be signing copies of his books at the end of the evening.
