Anzère Climbing Festival - Fear of falling
Discover the 3rd edition of the Anzère Climbing Festival, taking place on 11 and 12 July 2026. An event dedicated to the world of climbing, designed to bring together climbing enthusiasts and those simply curious about the sport in an exceptional setting, at the heart of the Valais limestone landscape.
The festival aims to promote the sport of climbing whilst encouraging people to meet, chat and share experiences. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced climber, you’ll find a friendly and festive atmosphere for a weekend full of discoveries.
On the programme: supervised workshops and courses, film screenings and talks led by guides and experienced climbers. Courses suitable for all levels are available upon registration — feel free to choose the one that best suits your interests. The rest of the programme is free to attend and open to everyone.
Fear of falling
The fear of falling when climbing is an emotion that affects all climbers. This fear, although natural and beneficial for safety, can become a significant obstacle to progress and improving climbing performance.
Fortunately, it is entirely possible to work on this fear to reduce it and, as a result, increase your chances of success.
This course will be taught by a climbing instructor, as well as a kinesiologist and hypnosis practitioner, who will provide a real understanding of the fear mechanism.
The 4-hour workshop on the fear of falling in climbing focuses on several essential aspects to help climbers overcome this apprehension. Here's an overview of the key elements you'll encounter:
- Understanding fear - psychological aspects
- Understanding and assimilating the mechanisms of falling and belaying a fall - practical fall exercises
- Dynamic belaying
